Curimopsis sp. - Curimopsis cooperi

Curimopsis sp. - Curimopsis cooperi
Ash Mountain, 2800' elev., Tulare County, California, USA
April 9, 1983
Size: 2 mm
I couldn't stop until I got this little guy figured out. Its a Curimopsis in Byrrhidae. It uses its modified tibias to dig in the mud.

When I checked on it in the Wagner/Scott Collection I found specimens from the same locality labeled by Ralph Hopping as "Curimopsis n. sp." I wonder if anyone ever got around to describing it?

well, it's a rarity, and the group is rather obscure, too
but now the problem we have is putting pix on the evacuated Curimopsis page! do you have any decent spcmns of true Curi~?

I checked and sadly I do not.

I checked in the Leng Catalog and all the species listed on Nearctica were known during Hopping's time.
