Mediterranean Katydid? - Phaneroptera nana - female

Mediterranean Katydid? - Phaneroptera nana - Female
Encino, Los Angeles County, California, USA
December 2, 2005
Size: 1 inch
On Sugarbush (Rhus ovata) in my front yard. It's somehow lost the hind pair of legs.

This looks like those pictured on this page of the Singing Insects of North America site- which says the species is established in my area. It reports an association with Plumbago auriculata, and the location here is less than 30 feet from a huge plant in my backyard.

Yes!
Wow! Great job on the identification, Chuck. I have to agree based on the process of elimination, plus the dorsal stripe. Congratulations on adding a new critter to Bugguide:-)

Thanks!
