Picromerus bidens?
This specimen closely resembles an image on Pbase.com that was tentatively identified as Picromerus bidens by David Rider, a recognized authority on this family.

Introduced?
Yes, it looks very good. Checked some other sites for P. bidens as well. Is this an introduced specie? I seem to find that an unusually large percentage of insect species on Monhegan Island, ME, are not native. Monhegan is 10 miles from the mainland. It's odd.

I couldn't find the size. Do you know if they get up to 15mm?

I´ll move it
15mm is not far off possible size - appearance agrees perfectly.

Are you sure about the size?
From the range given on Featured Creatures, Alcaeorrhynchus grandis appears to be a southern species, so Maine seems unlikely. Can't see the spines in enough detail to tell, but if it was a little smaller I'd say Podisus. Or maybe there's another Pentatomid look-alike?

Pretty sure.
I am going by memory but I'm fairly sure I'm in the ball park. It was certainly quite a bit over 10 mm. I added a blow up of the head. Hope it helps.
