Stag Beetle Larva - Lucanus
Cox Mountain Trail, Fews Ford Section, Eno River State Park, Orange County, North Carolina, USA

Size: 65 mm
Found under a rotting hardwood log in a mixed pine/deciduous forest. This was a very large, plump grub. See other images for anatomic details suggesting this is a stag beetle, Lucanus, and see this image for references:
