... to the one who can tell these pupae apart - if so, size might might help.

Myself, I wouldn't want to hazard a guess, except for stating that it's not Harmonia axyridis but that there are probably a hand full of species with such orange pupae and comparable larval skins at the base, some (not all) of which are listed at the bottom of this page.

So, if you truly want to know, take the leaf home, put in a jar with a littel stick in it to let the fresh beetle climb up sometihing and tell us what came out. You may get a chance of witnessing the emergence and the pumping up of the wings - take pictures and show us! :o)
