Lebia pectita
is confirmed based on my microscopic examination of this specimen which is now a photo-voucher in the P.W.Messer collection. Thanks Tom. A new species both for BugGuide and for my reference collection. I trust # 391090 is the same specimen.

Same beetle
I just took 2 pictures of the same beetle. I wish I found more of these handsome carabids:-)

Moved tenatively pending Peter's verdict; wow, Tom...
...you did it again! it's been a while since a new e. Lebia has been added!

Moved from Colorful Foliage Ground Beetles.

Lebia pectita
The tan lines look like someone painted them on the black elytra. When I saw it, I knew it was a new one for me. This one was found running around a sand pit, trying to hide in a small grass plant.

Yes,
this pretty boy (or girl?) does excite me. Would like to study it and add to my collection. Thanks in advance Tom.

Peter, I have it saved and I'll send it along with a few other carabids soon.
