nice macro
How do you get such clear photos of the palps? I have a Nikon D40x with an 18-55mm lens and a 70-300mm lens. Any special settings you may suggest?

Thanks! I took that picture through a 20-40X stereo microscope, by holding a point-and-shoot Kodak DX4330 camera up to one of the eyepieces. I cropped the picture to zoom in on the palp.

Many of my more recent photos were done with a better microscope, using a mounted Nikon D80.

Most of my live habitus photos (including the one of this spider), were taken with a Canon powershot SD 780 IS point-and-shoot camera on the macro setting.

The guy to ask about DSLR macros (which I know very little about) would be kyrontf, who has posted some wonderful closeup photos of live spiders. Here's his BG profile page, with a link to his pictures:
