Earwig - Anisolabis - male

Earwig - Anisolabis - Male
Lady Lake, Lake County, Florida, USA
December 11, 2005
Size: 14mm
Found under log. Male?

Moved
Moved from Earwigs.

Yes, Male
It has 10 abdominal segments rather than the 8 a female would have. I would guess Carcinophoridae, though the feet aren't in good enough focus to be sure. The specimen's right cercus does appear to be bent more than the other one, which would also indicate Carcinophoridae, but it's held at an odd angle that also makes it hard to be sure.

It might be a Euborellia species (not annulipes), or maybe Anisolabis maritima, The coloring is odd, so it might be a young or a teneal specimen.

Anisolabis sp.
