Zale perculta larva - Zale perculta

Zale perculta larva - Zale perculta
NW FL (I'll get more specific info and please pester me if I don't), Florida, USA
April 27, 2010
This larva was from somewhat west of the Apalachicola River in the FL Panhandle sometime in late April. A friend of mine, Pete Diamond, found this on Pieris phyllyreifilia, and was kind enough to bring it back alive and to lend me a potted host plant. I'll get more specific collection info soon, and please pester me if I don't, but I thought that it'd be good to get the image up even though I don't have the specific data yet. This is a rarely-collected species that was thought to only occur around cypress, which its host plant climbs, but lately it has been found to occur in areas with no cypress, with its host plant sending out runners and "acting" more like a bush than an "almost-parasitic" vine.

Do you have more specific collection information?
