Hi Pete!
Thanks for submitting these nice salticid photos!! I'm not an expert, but although a shot of the eyes and "face" can be useful, it's also very helpful to have a dorsal shot taken from above the spider. If you have any of these views, you can link them to these photos by clicking on "add image". I'm going to move most of these photos to the family page for now, where one of our jumper experts will try to help you with the genus or species... Let me know if you have any questions!

Most of these photos are from
Most of these photos are from a couple of years back when I had a jumping spider phase. I'm not sure if I still have any of the other angle shots, but I'll check. At least I'll try to remember this point for my future shots. I just got a new camera!

Cool -
we look forward to seeing more CA jumpers! (I live nearby, so I'll learn from your posts as well). Your comment reminds me that you should, if at all possible, put the date these pics were taken. If you know the month and year, at least, that would be helpful.

Our program -
may not accept loose dates like that... my suggestion if you don't know the dates is to put your best estimate in the text description of the spider and leave the date blank, then... Please keep track of dates of photos (and, ideally, the approximate size of the spider) for future submissions, as this information is important in keeping track of the phenology of our local arthropods. :)
