A Planthopper? - Dictyobia

A Planthopper? - Dictyobia
Claremont, Los Angeles County, California, USA
April 17, 2010
A Planthopper (?) on a leaf of Yerba Santa (Eriodictyon trichocalyx) in the 'East Field' of the Claremont Colleges' Robert J. Bernard Biological Field Station. Photographed about 9:00 a.m. We are in the process of documenting invertebrates at the Field Station (http://www.bfs.claremont.edu/biota/inverts/), and any information about this insect will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks to Dr. Hamilton for this ID.
Also, congratulations, Nancy! Although I know the photos aren't as good as you would have liked, they represent the first adult images on BugGuide for this genus! I will do my best to assist in re-finding this little hopper and maybe with both of us looking we can manage to get some better shots...

Dictyobia
the photo is too poor to differentiate the species

I was afraid of that...
I wasn't able to get a photo with the whole insect in focus. I keep hoping I'll see another one of these, but I haven't.

Thank you, Harsi and Andy, for narrowing it down this much! Maybe Harsi or I will be able to get a better photo sometime.
