Size: 6mm
Overwintering in cavern under railroad bridge. The slight downward curve of the proboscis is typical for the genus. The spotted wings make this species easy to recognize.
This is by far the most common overwintering mosquito in less urban habitats in the Victoria area. In more urban areas, Culex pipiens predominates.
Now we have only one more genus (Deinocerites) to go, and Bugguide will have all the genera found in the US and Canada.
Note that this picture is inverted, as these guys hang on the ceiling for the most part.
