Hoary Edge - Achalarus lyciades

It was interested in something on the ground, perhaps damp earth or decaying matter.

(I've been trying to get a photo of this species for years and never succeeded, even though I've seen it many times in North Carolina. I was in my yard taking photos of chilled insects when this one landed in front of me.)
