Atlantic Mine, Houghton County, Michigan, USA

Size: 4-5 mm
Small jumping spider that we found on the window. The spider was quite cooperative, and tended to face the camera (may have thought that its reflection in the lens was another spider).

Facing camera
I've taken hundreds of field photos of jumping spiders facing the camera. As you say, they may see a reflection, or see the lens as an eye. Or maybe it's just an object that looks close to them. They also face a standing human, though. It might be interesting to take an inspection mirror (the kind with a long handle) along to see if they're more interested in the mirror than the lens.
