Brown of American? - Periplaneta americana

Brown of American? - Periplaneta americana
Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona, USA
December 29, 2005
Can anyone tell if this is an American cockroach (Periplaneta americana) or a brown cockroach (Periplaneta brunnea)? This was found in a water control structure (not my house!)

American Cockroach
There is a site comparing the two here. I'm fairly certain that yours is the American.

I agree.
Definitely an American roach. Australian roaches are the ones most easily confused with American roaches (in my opinion anyway:-). Not a bad image, either:-)
