Size: 10mm or so
I don't believe I have seen a similar fly before. Like almost everything else I photographed that day, it was feeding on fleabane (though in this shot it had landed on some other plant).

Nice! Copestylum, but with a different look to it.
Maybe this is a Florida special. We have a Copestylum expert who visits from time to time, so this may go to species eventually.
