Coriarachne versicolor Male on Milkweed - Bassaniana versicolor - male

Coriarachne versicolor Male on Milkweed - Bassaniana versicolor - Male
Green Lane, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA
May 29, 2010
Size: 1/4 to 1/2 inch est.
This male was on a milkweed leaf, alone. He didn't like me being close with the camera and stood up on his legs and raised his abdomen. I've seen this pose when spiderlings are getting ready to balloon, but this time the behavior appeared to be either a threat posture or an attempt to appear large. Slightly overcast, 71 deg F, no breeze. There seems to be a fair amount of detail to the palps; looks like he is a mature male and not penultimate? Not sure of the ID so I'm submitting the pictures.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

Can't be certain of the species without
hitting the books, but certainly close. The genus has been changed to Bassaniana, however.

Thanks!
If the ID is correct (with your change to genus), it makes me a bit more sure of the female with the egg sac under a separate ID request. They were not in proximity to each other, and I wondered why a developed male would be around so long after females were laying eggs. I photographed a male on May 1st (am adding the photo as a new request since this is a different individual than the one in pictures taken 5/29/10). They are a daunting looking spider - handsome!
