Hemlock adelgid from Tennessee - Adelges tsugae

Hemlock adelgid from Tennessee - Adelges tsugae
Bays Mountain Park, Sullivan County, Tennessee, USA
May 27, 2010
I am surprised that we don't have any images of hemlock adelgids from the east coast; they have killed many trees in the Smokies and keep advancing despite efforts to control them.
There is a lacewing egg in the midst of this group; I didn't notice it until days later when I got home, otherwise I would have taken more pictures and searched for more. It would be nice if this predator could keep the nasty non-native in check.
The trees were also infested by many spittle bugs and also mites; apparently stressed trees are more prone to other attacks.
