Australian cockroach - Periplaneta australasiae

Australian cockroach - Periplaneta australasiae
Farmington, Franklin County, Maine, USA
January 5, 2006
Size: 1.25"
I believe this is an Australian cockroach from what I've seen on this site. Strangely it was found in Maine in the middle of winter. A coworker found it in their apartment building. What's not so strange is that a fellow tenant who just moved out and was described as a terrible house cleaner had previously been living in Florida. She had been living in the apartment for a little over a year. I’m sorry but I put it in the fridge to slow it down in order to photograph it and it seems to have expired. I usually exit all insects and spiders alive to the wild, but in winter they tend to coexist.

Handsome fellow,
even if he is a little on the deceased side. I've moved him to the guide page for species.
