Deer Tick - Ixodes scapularis - male

Deer Tick - Ixodes scapularis - Male
Fort Bragg, Cumberland County, North Carolina, USA
January 6, 2006
The ticks have slowed down, but I don't think they ever die off in this area. The cat comes in often with ticks. The main difference is that in the summer more of them attach.

For some
reason, these were always one of those things that gave me the creeps, I was fine getting them off the cats or dogs, but if I had one on me, ugh. I have to say, I don't miss them one bit.

Me too...
Check out this photo set of when I sat in a seed tick nest this summer. Definitely my worst bug hunting experience to date!

OH my,
If that were me, I would have seriously embarrassed myself:)

Yes,
I guess my fear of public nudity is greater than my fear of ticks. :) Did you read Bob's story, the first commenthere?

HAHA
I will have to tease him about that one, I probably would have done the same.
