Cicindela tranquebarica arida - Cicindela tranquebarica

Cicindela tranquebarica arida - Cicindela tranquebarica
south of Shoshone, Inyo County, California, USA
March 22, 2010
Size: 10 mm
Rather rare subspecies of Cicindela tranquebarica, similar to the more recently described
Cicindela tranquebarica joaquinensis of the San Joaquin Valley, California. C. t. arida
is smaller in size, and occurs only in the Death Valley region of California/Nevada.

Some authors and tiger beetle gurus
have raised this subspecies to full species status based on disparity of male genitalic form(s) and other assorted morphological characters.
