i bet this one is conspecific with 423972

...and very much hope Peter's box is in the mail!

Moved from Agonum.

I'm pretty sure #406908 is not Agonum placidum.
Something like A. moerens is a better fit in my opinion for reasons already mentioned. Won't really know for sure until specimen can be examined.

the light is challenging but i can confidently count 5 setae...
...in int. 3

If you see 5 setae/punctures touching *same* 3rd interval,
then you have a good case for A. placidum. I admit that I can't clearly see on my screen more than 3 punctures in the same 3rd interval. Some "hairs" might be debris??

Tentatively Agonum moerens
based on combination of elytron with 3 punctures (not 4 as in A. placidum), with weak but characteristic dent in 5th stria apically, basal antennomere contrasting bright rufous, and relatively small pronotum with blunt denticle at hind angle. I recommend microscopic examination to be sure.

Thanks Peter
I'll add it to "your box". One of these months I might even get it in the mail.

Thanks in advance.
With long time lapses it is helpful to include BG photo number with each specimen you send. See my profile for details.

among those IDed in the Guide, i like placidum best for this one
may mean nothing, though

Moved from Ground Beetles.
