Wasp making nest in tree TX mini-gathering -

This wasp was starting to build a nest about 6 feet above ground in a tree.

. Tentatively placing here because I have no idea what else this could be. These are valuable images if my ID is correct because it verifies that this species sometimes makes free-standing mud nests. Nice work, Nancy!

It's a little side hobby I now have -- taking photos of wasps (even thought they make me nervous) - only cuz I know how much vespula vulgaris appreciates them!
