Mayfly in January - Callibaetis floridanus

Mayfly in January - Callibaetis floridanus

Callibaetis
Currently, only two species of Callibaetis appear to be present in Florida: pretiosus and floridanus (Berner and Pescador, 1988). Although the males of those species are more difficult to distinguish than the females, and subimagos are seldom described in the literature, I suspect that this might be floridanus. From what I can see in the photo, the venation pattern of the forewing appears to follow what is typical of floridanus.

Moved from Mayflies.

Baetid
This appears to be a male subimago of the genus Callibaetis.
