Tangle-veined Fly - Neohirmoneura flavipes

Tangle-veined Fly - Neohirmoneura flavipes
Mnt Lemmon, Catalinas, Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, USA
June 12, 2010
Landed in my beating sheet. It was so cold at 10 000 feet that we still had some handfuls of snow. In June! In Tucson! Conditions ideal for beating sheet collecting, if you can deal with all tose lady bugs that come tumbling

Taxonomy of this fly
If one follows the latest published treatment (Bernardi 1977) the name for this fly is Neohirmoneura flavipes (Williston).

Moved
Moved from Hirmoneura. See Bequaert 1920, 1934, the former being the reference listed as most current in MND.

Moved
Moved from Tangle-veined flies. I might be going out on a limb, but I'm going to put this in Hirmoneura based on how close the antennae are to one another

Moved
Moved from ID Request.
