Grasshopper - Syrbula admirabilis

Grasshopper - Syrbula admirabilis
Columbia, Boone County, Missouri, USA
August 23, 2005
Size: <=2"
Can anyone id this grasshopper to any taxon lower than order? If so, I'd really appreciate knowing what field marks you used so next time I can make the id myself. Thanks.

Spectacular.
What a nice portrait! Pretty certain this is a male of Syrbula admirabilis (or genus Syrbula anyway). Females are much larger, and usually GREEN, with darker and lighter stripes. I'd recommend getting the new field guide to U.S. Orthoptera.
