Who ID'd this, please?
Scott, my compliments on a nice image of a fine specimen. Wondering how you arrived at the species-level identification (or even genus for that matter). I had to send all my specimens to an expert for ID, myself.

ID
Eric, this ID came from a group of mostly lep enthusiasts who met once a year at OSU. I had some unknown insects and leps there for ID and this was one that came back. I assumed I was in good company with the likes of Paul Hammond, Andy Warren, Andy Brower and many others. I did a search and cannot even find the name of this insect on the net now. I had never questioned the ID and put it with my specimen that day. My apologies for any misunderstanding. Now I wonder what this insect is. Is it a sawfly? Thanks for all your feedback and ID confirmations.
