Another suggestion -
from Mark Melton: "95% sure it's a Centroptilum, probably bifurcatum. There are a lot of them in this area, especially in May and June".

From follow up email from Mark: "There's also a slight chance that baetid could be Baetis flavistriga. The only way to be absolutely sure would be to check the forewings under a microscope. Centroptilum spp. have 1 intercalary while Baetis spp. have 2. I've attached a drawing of wings that show this. The arrows in the drawing refer to the intercalaries. I still lean towards about a 95% chance of Centroptilum though".

Probably Diphetor hageni
There are (~19) species of non-Callibaetis-Baetids present in CA. Based on the clasper configuration, abdominal segment coloration, and numerous other factors, I believe it's probably a Diphetor hageni male imago, specifically the one which was once classified as Baetis devinctus, but am most anxious to hear what Lloyd Gonzales has to say about it.

Thanks, Roger!
I'll leave it here for a bit longer in the hopes that Lloyd will take a look at it, then...
