Weevil on Steer's Head - Sirocalodes sericans

Weevil on Steer's Head - Sirocalodes sericans
Kyburz, El Dorado County, California, USA
June 15, 2010
I was photographing steer's head (Dicentra uniflora) when this weevil crawled up onto it and started feeding. I didn't have my flashes ready, as I wasn't planning on shooting insects at the time; thus, I apologize that the close-up crops of the bug aren't very sharp. Still, I would appreciate it if anyone can help me narrow down what kind of weevil this is (or let me know if I'm entirely mistaken). This photo was taken on the Shealor Lakes hiking trail, near the summit (at an elevation of about 7600' if that helps at all). Thanks!

corrected ID
Siracalodes sericans Bob thankfully has caught my error. I have long series of S. wickhami from Argemone flowers and fruits in my Mexican collection from many states below the border. My specimens of S. wickhami from the US are misidentified and are actually sericans. I hope noone believes they should not question any determination in doubt. It is always possible to be in error and especially when identifying photos as it is necessary to assume some character states not visible in the photos. I will continue to try to put the correct names on those sent and will never object to corrections of presumed errors.

Moved

any US records??
none in(1); AmBeetles only says, Mexico(2)
Moved from Sirocalodes.

Sirocalodes sericans (LeConte)
This is Sirocalodes sericans (LeConte). This was recently moved into Sirocalodes from Ceutorhynchus. Host is listed as 'unknown' so the plant association is nice to have. The host of S. wickhami is the prickly poppy, Argemone and as far as I know it is not known from USA.

ID
Sirocalodes wickhami Champion Nice pictures with host in background. Correct ID to genus.

perfect --thanks for another nice addition, Gentlemen

let's settle for genus now; will hopefully get you further soon
Moved from ID Request.
