Big brown moth with yellow stripes on the lower part of its body??? - Amphion floridensis
Spring, Harris County, Texas, USA
June 23, 2010
Size: over an inch
Gentle giant found hanging out on my back porch. He(?)/She(?) allowed me to get really close to take pictures. Even when asked to move, it flew only a few feet away without getting upset. Would love to know what majestic species this is. I am SERIOUSLY afraid of bugs, but for some reason this one gave me a calm feeling.

Welcome to Bugguide, Max. I'm glad you weren't afraid of this insect--it's a moth and not anything to be worried about :-)
I think it might be this species: . I don't know if it's a he or a she, though an expert could probably tell!
