thanks! I see now that the ? embolus could also just be curling up in front of the jaw rather than around it. Cool! Linyphiidae still looks like the right family, at least.

Interesting -
unless I'm hallucinating, it looks like there is a very long process (maybe the embolus or conductor?) coming out from the tip of the right palp and curling around the jaw?

Crazy, isn't it? I've never seen anything like it and was wondering why the spider was "wired." I was joking that it was an alien robot sent to spy on us, like in the X-Files episode where it was suggested that aliens might use cockroach robots to explore the Earth.
