Buprestid Flower Beetle - Acmaeodera idahoensis

Buprestid Flower Beetle - Acmaeodera idahoensis
Hood River, Hood River County, Oregon, USA
June 23, 2010
Size: 14mm
This Beetle was found on the flower of a hawkweed. The city of Hood River is located in the semi arid steppes east and north of Mt Hood.
There are few trees, some Ponderosa and lodgepole pine, mostly prairie type landscape.
Only one pic then the beetle flew away. It appears to match pictures in the Buprestidae within the Acmaeodera genus.
It was taken in situ with an EOS 50D with a 1:1 lens. A good common name may be a Buprestid Flower Beetle.
This beetle will be in a an ecology news letter in August. http://mysite.ncnetwork.net/reszg5fl/DownLoads.html
Your help with an ID is very much appreciated. Jake
