Bombus vosnesenskii male? - Bombus insularis - male

Bombus vosnesenskii male? - Bombus insularis - Male
Yosemite NP, Tuolumne County, California, USA
June 20, 2010
There seems to be only one other image of a male on bugguide. There were several of these buzzing around California Corn Lilies, with no nearby flowers. They either landed on the leaves, or went down to ground level and buzzed around, where I eventually saw a queen. Unfortunately she disappeared into the grass and I couldn't get a photo.

Moved from ID Request.

another possibility
is B. insularis male
