not a grasshopper
this is a young cricket. no wings have grown yet but the play where they will grow shows, so its probably a late instar. browsing through bugguide i found a perfect match

I agree with the genus, but there are at least two species up there. Also, if this is a female individual, she will never grow wings. The "humpwinged grigs" are truly bizarre animals. Great find!
