Bug Identification

I hope this is the right category to post this under, but I found an insect in my bedroom the other day that I had never seen before. I took a picture of it. I've shown it to a few people, and no one knows what it is.

I'm hoping maybe someone here can help identify it. Anyone know?

It would be helpful if you just deleted this forum thread
since you posted the image to ID Request and received an answer there. Only the originator can delete the thread. Simply click EDIT and then click on the delete tab. Thanks

Meanwhile....
Might as well give the ID here, too: a female braconid wasp, family Braconidae. The "stinger" is actually her egg-laying organ, called an ovipositor. She is totally harmless, venom-less. They are parasites of other insects, and are often attracted to lights at night.

ID request
What you need to do is to submit this image to the section called "ID request". You will find it at the top of the page and when you are on that page you click on "add image" and a form will appear with instructions; it is better to add as much information as possible.
Welcome to Bugguide and good luck.
