Size: about 8 mm
This attractive elaterid was found under the bark of a standing dead tree. It showed up for its photo shoot covered with lint, so I spent quite awhile cleaning it up with the clone-stamp tool in PhotoShop. There's probably not a hair or dimple in its rightful spot as a result ;-)

It looks a little like an Ampedus sp. that Tom Murray photographed:
