Excellent photos
This is Dasymutilla arenivaga. It is one of only two species with this color pattern, but the other species lives in the great basin while this species is found in the mojave and sonoran deserts. This is one of only 2 Dasymutilla nocturnal Dasymutilla species, though this one is frequently found during the day and at night.

Very nice shots...
Of another Dasymutilla sp., seemingly new for the Guide. The long, standing hair of the desert species of this genus fit especially well to the genus name: the prefix "Dasy-" comes from ancient Greek and means "shaggy".
