California Prionus Longhorned beetle
Yes, my kittens were playing with one of these last night. It made a noise like a rattlesnake, and I went to see what was going on. Our house is in Gallinas Canyon, which is outside of Las Vegas, New Mexico, at an altitude of about 7500 feet. My husband grew up there and never saw anything like it before...are these guys a new "invasion"? A previous poster's note was dated 2010. Thanks
