Fuzzy Wasp..? - Dasymutilla
Jamaica Bay Wildlife Reserve, NYC, Queens County, New York, USA

Size: ~2 cm
This critter buzzed around me and landed a couple of times before I could get a shot of it. It is all black and fuzzy with a noticeable bright orange band around the hind section..
