Yes, Pearl Crescent is one possibility, but you are in an area where they are confusing. This looks more like a female Northern Crescent to me, which I think is also in your area. Bates' Crescents look similar too, but I don't think it's that. Did you get a shot of the underside by any chance?

The females on top, of all three, can look similar, and there is a lot of individual variation to confuse things. The males are confusing too, but tend to look a little more distinctive.

 
Pearl Crescent and Northern Crescent
Thanks for the input. The subject of the captive dorsal view and underwing shot was significantly smaller than the in-the-wild, on-the-daisy, butterfly of a few days earlier, same property. It IS confusing! I sure appreciate the id so I can properly label them in my file.
