red and black millipede - Narceus americanus-annularis-complex
Abrams Falls trail in Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Gatlinburg, Sevier County, Tennessee, USA
June 5, 2010
Size: around 4" or so
My friend and I were hiking the trail at Abrams Falls close to Gatlinburg,Tennessee and I came across this neat looking red and black millipede. I would love identify at least to genus if not to species. Any help would be appreciated.

Narceus
Yes, this is a member of the Narceus americanus/annularis species complex.

Maybe one in the Narceus americanus/annularis complex

Thanks!
That looks pretty close. Thanks for the info!

Informal policy
See thread 298899(1) for the draft of a new policy on where to submit, not yet official. ID request is always correct (not everybody knows what class or order a bug belongs to). Your image might get moved one extra time if first posted there.
