Small and black
Alameda County, California, USA
July 5, 2010
Size: 2.2 mm bl
On aphid-infested chard plant, noon. I keep trying for decent photos of these guys. This one looks wrinkled; dehydrated?

The texture
may be from the odd hair arrangement of Rhyzobius forestieri. But I wouldn't want to call that species on these pics alone.

Scymnus or close kin
i don't think dehydration it the culprit: fully desiccated beetle specimens sit in collection for centuries and this doesn't affect their appearance [except for some soft-bodied beetles whose abdomen may shrink]
