Bark and Ambrosia Beetle at Lights - Xyleborus

Bark and Ambrosia Beetle at Lights - Xyleborus
Near Ruraldale, Upshur County, West Virginia, USA
July 19, 2005
Size: Tiny
At first glance I thought this was a Powder Post Beetle. It had that same overall shape. Upon further reflection and pondering of photos, I believe it is a Scolytinae beetle. In fact, it may be the same species as Tom's:

About the common name of the subfamily: Are some of these beetles Bark Beetles and some Ambrosia Beetles, and if so which is this? Or is it just a single concept, beetles that like to dine on both bark and ambrosia?

I wouldn't care for the bark diet, but ambrosia certainly has its place!
