False Bombardier Beetle - Galerita bicolor

False Bombardier Beetle - Galerita bicolor
Lake Grubb Park, Mountville, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA
August 20, 2005
Size: 19mm w/o antennae
I collected this specimen in a pitfall trap baited with dog food. I think it is species Galerita bicolor, based on other images in the guide. Can anyone comfirm? Thanks!

Wow
Beautiful mount and great specimen! Wish I could do that :)

Thanks!
I did do a little bit of editing to make it look that good but the specimen itself is almost that nice. Thanks for the compliment:)

Thanks!
Thanks to both of you! This is the only species I have ever found. Hopefully I can get different ones this summer.

Great image, Matthew!
Good collection details too.

Galerita bicolor
It looks like Galerita bicolor to me, based on the shape of the head, shown as distinguishing it from G. janus and G. lecontei in Ciegler, Ground Beetles of South Carolina (1). Compare, for instance:

I'd really like to see the other two species for comparion--I've just found a couple of bicolor.
