I have looked at your photos of this family of beetle without seeing one that matched.

L.capreolus it is then.
It's a good (B&W) image, so I've moved it to the guide page.

I am very surprised because I thought it would up to me to do this. Thank you very much for your thoughtfulness. When I have natural light available, I can try to get better color photographs if you like.

Up to you

Color photo?
If this is a color photo, I'm voting against L. capreolus. No tan-orange-yellow femurs and tibia. otoh, if it's a B&W photo, it could well be. The wider head means yours is more of a "major male" than others already posted.

With the light that I had to use, I could not get the color to come out true. This beetle does have that color that you described.

Note.
I can't make sense out of Will's comment, and hope he will clarify:-) Incidentally, Pseudolucanus has been absorbed into the genus Lucanus. I agree with the ID given, Lucanus capreolus.

pseudolucanus capreolus, there is another species called placidus on the east coast which is what I thought it was at first.

Thank you. While you choice is a close match, I am wondering about the head on my beetle being wider than the head of the other beetle.
