BIG flying bug in New Hampshire... what was that thing?

I have recently come across the largest bug I have ever seen around here. (New Hampshire)
It was night, July, very hot and humid. The insect was apparantly attracted by the bedroom light. It was approximately 3 to 4 inches long, cigar shaped and cigar colored (brown). The body extended slightly past the end of the folded wings.
I did not notice any antenna.
Can someone help with this? I hope to see it again so that I can get a picture.

Another big bug
It's Dobsonfly season:

This is one of the few insects that is over 2 inches long.

BINGO!!! Mystery solved.
That appears to be it. Thank you for all your help.

I will keep looking for it though. If I find it I will post a picture.

Thanks again.

Folded wings
like a beetle?

or like a moth?

folded wings
The wings were more like a beetle. However it did not look like the beetle pictured. It was longer, slimmer and lighter colored.
