I haven't looked around the guide much. Just noticed this in my files and don't remember seeing one like this before.

Palpada texana
With these stripes on the thorax, it looks like Palpada texana. Very nice species!

Yes! Palpada it is!
You are quite right, this is a male in the genus Palpada! Close to the genus Eristalis but usually a bit more colorful!
