Moth Fly - Clytocerus
Mobile (Dog River), Mobile County, Alabama, USA
July 13, 2010
Size: ~4mm
First time I've seen this rather large drain fly. The brown-white-orange features should be distinctive enough for ID. BTW I was going to collect until an obnoxious June beetle ran it off:( Thanks for any help on this beauty.

This species may not be Clytoceru
This species may not be Clytocerus americanus. It looks similar to C. americanus, but the antennae and vestiture appear different. I'm not sure what this one is, but it's definitely interesting!

Also, we can't rule out the possibility that it's an undescribed species of Clytocerus. But, in order to make that call, it's necessary to look at specimens.
