These flies can range in color from metallic blues and greens to coppery red and gold.

Identification
This male specimen belongs to the genus Condylostylus.

Condylostylus
On the Tree of Life website Diptera page I have seen this one named as Condylostylus sp. It is a genus with 40= species in North-America.

I have seen these all over my garden in Colorado also and am curious as to what exactly they are - they are absolutely beautiful!!
