Crescent or Checkerspot? - Chlosyne gorgone - female

Crescent or Checkerspot? - Chlosyne gorgone - Female
Heron Haven, Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska, USA
July 25, 2010
Size: ~1.25" wingspan
Pearl Crescent, Silvery Checkerspot, and Gorgone Checkerspot are the 3 normal options in my area, but this doesn't seem to match any of them. Looking at my field guide I would say that the size was closest to the Pearl Crescent, with the checkerspots being a little too big for the specimen I photographed. Any thoughts?

I was thinking Checkerspot.
The light patches on the marginal spot of the HW suggest Silvery Checkerspot. The marginal chevrons suggest Gorgone. If I had to guess I'd say Gorgone, but best wait for an expert.

Very nice image. Any mosquitoes out there at Heron Haven? I was at Fontenelle Forest last week and there were too many to stop and take a picture.

I slapped a few
while I was taking photos this afternoon, but they didn't seem too bad considering the cloudy, calm conditions. But I remained near the butterfly garden and didn't venture into the trees and closer to the wetland. They were probably thick back there.
